Tradition and Gastronomic Innovation
In Alcântara, home to ancient convents and royal palaces, on Rua 1º de Maio, Rua Leão de Oliveira opens and climbs, ending further up at Calçada da Tapada.
Before the intersection with Rua dos Lusíadas, on the left-hand side as you go uphill, stands the Rosa Agulhas Market, also known as Alcântara Market, inaugurated in 1987 and currently undergoing renovation.
One of the changes is the restaurant O Mercado, which has moved from one side to the other. Our restaurant is recognized as one of the most historically significant establishments in Lisbon, offering an authentic and high-quality culinary experience.
If you’re looking for a place to eat fish in Lisbon, but also want to enjoy traditional Portuguese dishes, O Mercado restaurant is an excellent choice for a fish restaurant in Alcântara. Located in the Santos, Alcântara, Calvário, and Ajuda areas, this establishment offers fresh and delicious fish dishes, standing out as one of the best restaurants in the region and a true historical treasure of Lisbon.
